As Founder and Principal at Harmony Mediation & Consulting (HM&C), Rathika has been providing strategic people management advice, support, and training across public and private sectors in Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean for over three years. 


Her person-centered consultation work revolves around the objectives to:

→ help organizations become more agile by driving the adoption of change;

→ engage and train others to use effective alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practices;

→ conduct cultural audits to help organizations identify areas for improvement.

As a health & wellness-oriented Ziglar Certified Coach, an Advanced ADR-certified HR expert and Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner, Rathika is holistically equipped to help organizations, work team members, and leaders at all levels to facilitate workplaces that are also healthy social environments. To achieve these results, her services include:


→ mediating and resolving interpersonal conflicts that are stifling effectiveness and productivity;

Rathika holds a demonstrated track record of having consulted effectively with over a dozen not-for-profits, businesses and governmental agencies. Furthermore, she is an award-winning Professor with The Business School at Centennial College.

An Equity-Oriented Advocate for Building Organizational Capacities through Engaging Learning Experiences

Rathika is a dedicated educator and award-winning Professor with Centennial College, where she has taught for over seven years. She has also contributed as an Equity and Inclusion Specialist at the college since 2017. Her impact on the future leaders of Toronto and beyond is evident from the pivotal role she has played in developing curricula for online postgraduate courses in Human Resources Management.


Evermore the educator and social justice advocate, Rathika was involved in developing a 14-week online curriculum for the CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals, an initiative that supports B3 not-for-profits in building their leadership and organizational capacities. Through HM&C, Rathika seeks to empower organizations of all sizes to achieve meaningful results in reaching their goals through services that include the following:


→ Culture audits with small, medium and large-sized organizations;

→ Development and delivery of effective and relevant HR strategies;

→ Writing, developing, and implementing organizational policies;

→ “Training the Trainer” programming, creating customized orientation and onboarding solutions;

→ Supporting communities of practice (e.g., the Black to the Future Project at CEE).


Rathika has been the keynote speaker at over 1,000 local and global public gatherings. She has led numerous workshops and training sessions on organizational culture, conflict resolution and promoting respectful relationships in the workplace. Rathika holds both Master of Industrial Relations (MIR) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degrees with a concentration in Strategic Human Resources Management. She is also fully proficient in English, French and Tamil.


Rathika’s Distinguished Leadership Experience in Canadian Politics

At HM&C, Rathika brings forth the unique experience of having been a legislator for Canada’s federal government. At the age of 29, Rathika was elected to the Canadian House of Commons, becoming the youngest MP (Member of Parliament) in the province of Ontario and the first ever MP of Tamil descent. During her time in office, Rathika championed the elimination of child poverty in Canada with her Private Member’s initiative M-534, which passed with near unanimous support. As a child of war, daughter of an injured worker, and immigrant of colour in Canada, Rathika has a lifetime of lived experiences dealing with various forms of injustice and discrimination. She is now a long-time advocate and activist for increasing awareness of, and working toward the eradication of many of these injustices.

In her free time, Rathika finds joy through arts and crafts with her daughter, helping to coach her daughter’s soccer program, and is a professional Indian classical dancer of Bharatnatyam.
